| The Walking Dead Season 2, Episode 4: Amid the Ruins Review Lifeless - PSLS

"Truth be told, I have had a hard time getting into season two of Telltales The Walking Dead. For one thing, there is no inherent end goal like we had in season one. There is only survival. We arent trying to solve a mystery, find Clementines parents, or anything else remotely interesting or worth the investment. To me, that lack of an end game lessens the emotional impact of my decisions and makes it too easy to play the hard-ass survivor (when the game will actually let me be more than just a little kid). Second, Clementine has never felt like a strong lead character to me. Ive been frustrated at how she is treated and acts like a child up until this point, regardless of the things she has been taught, said, or done, not to mention her vast array of personal experiences in this fucked up world. The opening of episode four began to sway this second opinion however." -PSLS

From the review: "Overall, The Wolf Among Us has been an amazing experience. While the gameplay and layout are nearly identical to The Walking Dead; the tone, story, and artwork take The Wolf Among Us out of its predecessor's shadow and give it a permanent place at its side as a prime example of expert storytelling in gaming- with the side effect of the two games being cursed to forever being mentioned in tandem. I know I already said this up top, but if you haven't already started playing The Wolf Among Us (or The Walking Dead for that matter) you need to get on it ASAP."

| CGM Reviews: The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 4: Amid The Ruins
Added: 25.07.2014 9:17 | 1 views | 0 comments
If the previous episode of Telltales second season of The Walking Dead was light on choices and interactivity, it might be because they were saving those elements for episode four. This latest chapter, Amid The Ruins turns a hard, serious corner for this season, taking what had been a story with less engagement than the first season, and ratcheting up the tension, choices and emotional exhaustion. Amid The Ruins may not necessarily elevate the entire second season, but its easily become an equal to the better episodes of the first.
